To celebrate the activity and rituals of the daily coffee break, this small coffee bar is reduced to its basic element: a counter where coffee is made and then consumed. The counter, a stone slab in tones of espresso and mocha, snakes through the space, moving from front-of-house to back-of-house and out again.
Simple square tiles line the areas below the counter, while lacquered plywood makes storage above. Both materials are muted against the contrasting activity and materiality of the counter.
