One Park Lobby

A gilded lobby at the beginning of Park Avenue.

  • Client: Vornado Realty
  • Location: New York City
  • Program: Commercial lobby renovation and building repositioning
  • Size: 5,000 sf
  • Status: Complete (Initiated October 1st, 2014)

The project is a renovation of a neo-rennaisance lobby that strips the space to its essence and adds a series of discrete modern insertions that enhance and clarify the power of the existing architecture. Monolithic niches, bronze end walls, and custom light fixtures punctuate the lobby to create new programmatic uses, as One Park Avenue enters its second century.

Solid bronze fin walls act as key moments in the project. Conceived of as porous ‘caps’ to the two major axes they tie together the existing space and emphasize the volumetric power of the vaults.
